Hackcon 2025 (speaker)

My experience speaking at Hackcon 2025 + event highlights

I was one of the four GitHub Campus Experts selected as speakers for a lightning talk at Hackcon New York.

Hackcon is a conference where some of the most inspiring, ambitious, and hard‑working hackathon organizers and community leaders from around the world come together to learn from each other and connect.

Lightning talk

For my lightning talk, I shared what I’ve learned from my experience on the Women For The Future team, focusing on how to build thriving, supportive communities.

This was my first time public speaking at an event of such scale, and needless to say, I was so nervous until the very last minute before stepping on stage. Still, I had poured my heart into preparing the presentation, and once it was time, I gave it everything I had.

Event highlights

At the camp, we had many activities to do in between workshops and speaker sessions, such as a tie-dye village, campfires, volleyball, tennis, eat ice cream, and so much more.

During the workshops, we learned from peers who have run larger, longer, and more complex inclusive events. A highlight for me was the talk Designing for Deaf Inclusion, were we learned about building inclusive communities and deaf accessibility.

It was incredibly inspiring to hear stories about other hackers’ communities across Spain, the UK, the USA, Chile, Mexico and beyond.

Final thoughts

This was my first time at Hackcon, and it was an amazing experience. I am increadibly grateful for the opportynity to have been part of it.

I’m leaving Hackcon full of ideas and and inspired to keep building, learning, and sharing ways we can make both technology and community more inclusive for everyone.
